A monster vase designed in 2002 by Renzo Stellon for Salviati. The vase was produced in many sizes, this is the largest. Signed on the base with the Salviati sticker on the top of the neck.
This vase will be a refined statement piece on a living room side table. The distinctive teardrop silhouette is made using the "rigadin" technique in the Venetian glass-making canon, the striking green glass marked by thin ribbing, obtained by blowing the glass inside a grooved open die. Swirled to create the sinuous neck and hot finished for a glossy surface, this piece will shine in any decor. From a family of glassmakers, Renzo Stellon, born in Murano in 1943, studied at the Venice School of Art and trained at his father's glass factory in Murano. In 1997 he became production manager at Salviati, where he also worked as a consultant and designer.
It comes in its original substantial box (27 x 27 x 44 cm), which includes the original foam packaging for protection. Size: 38.5cm high, diam ±31 cm; weight 2.4Kg. Condition: great vintage condition, with some minor wear appropriate for its age. Please view all the photos before purchasing, they complete the description.
While I do my best to reproduce the true colours of the pieces, they will vary slightly from system to system, and in actual viewing they will vary under differing lighting. All white spots are light reflections. Look in my store for more Murano items.
