Antique French circa 1860s blue opaline dresser box. The outside of this box has no chips cracks or fractures but the inside as you can see in one of the photos has a cut out right below where the opening is and the metal lines.
There is also the same cut out on the opposite side in the front which is not visible from the outside only the inside. There is a tiny button on the front gilded metal that you push to open the lead. There is a flaw with this metal that goes around the outside of this rectangular glass box the glue has come unglued some so when you go to open the lid it pulls up a little bit I have also taken a picture of this in the last photo for you. Other than that the box is in excellent condition. This is a rare piece as I have not seen another one even close to it.The top of the lid has a Gilden metal oval piece with a handle on it that is circular and it is a serpent eating its tail which is the rebirth of life symbol. The motif around the gold gilded center are thistles acorns pinecones and flowers with leaves.
It is such a stunning blue color that is see-through when the light shines through. If you have any questions at all or would like more photos please feel free to ask, thank you for looking.
